Speed and diligence are required for successful transaction decisions and implementations in today’s dynamic market environment. We use our expertise to support Schaeffler’s management with all aspects of corporate transactions, from the analysis and evaluation of opportunities for strategic mergers and acquisitions through the planning and implementation of carve-outs or post-merger integrations.
We are also part of the Schaeffler Group. It is therefore particularly important for us to be the preferred contact for our clients in matters that extend beyond the closing of the transaction. For this reason, we do not only calculate the option with the maximum value generation, but also ensure this during the subsequent implementation in collaboration with the client. Our team combines experience in overall project control with in-depth specialist knowledge. We use this combination to develop solutions in dedicated workstreams for the areas of strategy, organization, and finance.
Initial situation
Schaeffler continues to develop its technological expertise in order to cater for numerous market trends. Acquisitions are an important building block in supplementing the company’s own technology spectrum in a targeted manner and in creating value over the long term. In the past, Schaeffler therefore regularly strengthened its position by acquiring medium-sized companies in this sector.
Against this backdrop, our team provided support in a post-merger integration (PMI). At the closing of the transaction, the acquired company was legally a part of the Schaeffler Group, but it continued acting independently in the market.
Challenges
Our goal was to achieve the required level of integration according to schedule – while taking the organizational resources into account. This resulted in a range of challenges for the PMI.
It was essential to ensure the continuation of business operations in parallel with the integration activities – despite the structure of a medium-sized company and the limited management capacities of the acquired company. It was also important to retain and to continue to promote the potential and success factors of the smaller partner company after its integration into the Schaeffler Group.
Solution
Our team was commissioned with the task of supporting the PMI process. For this purpose, we developed a suitable project structure and implemented it in an efficient manner. We moderated and orchestrated the outstanding integration activities after the closing of the transaction.
We supported the specialist departments involved with the processing of the outstanding tasks. In this way, we ensured that the partner company was integrated into the Schaeffler Group successfully and within manageable boundaries in close collaboration with the project managers and workstreams.

Our project approach covered various areas. During project planning, we structured and prioritized the integration activities. We took the available resources and priorities on both sides into account. We ensured that progress was made towards integration by continuously tracking work packages and milestones.
In addition, we supported managers with targeted communication and by acting as an intermediary between the various stakeholders. We also assisted the team of the acquired company by providing specialist support in the processing of work packages.
